Trump’s folly

This is not the first time that the road taken my mankind makes me shiver in fear. I was not born yet, the last time the world descended into madness. And though I was not even a thought in my parents' minds, then, it was close enough for me to know how bad, how sad and how crippling WWII was to the world. The “let’s reset and start again” launched by D-Day was received with hope and sad smiles ,but millions of people never came home.

And the horror was not finished. Behind the gates of the concentration camps, living corpses came to light and washed the world with the knowledge that true monsters indeed existed.

Time passed. Hearts were healed after the bombs stopped exploding and peace created space for better things. But even after all that, in North America, there were people treated like second-class citizens, sometimes even like animals.

I was already born when the great United States of America started to see that the color of skin was not reason to punish anyibe - and this from the same country that had entered a war a couple decades back to put an end to injustice and free people locked down for their beliefs. But they were white...

Those people, those who not believed in equality ,are the ones who create the monsters that now, in the once great United States of America, take children from their parents in a way that will give them nightmares for the rest of their lives.

People don’t change. This is a fact. They hide what they are behind masks, when they are down, and wait for the time when all the hate and malevolence of their little black hearts can sing free again; and now they have the king of black hearts to lead them.

Now I am at my prime, more than half my life lived in a free world, but for how much longer?  Trump’s folly is being erected in North America. South America is infested with corruption and dictators. Around the world, mllions of refugees are fleeing to richer countries, trying to survive. Everything seems to be crumbling, taking us almost a century back in time.  We are witnessing the first stages of Hitler’s madness, his dream of an Arian race, born again by the hands of Trump and his followers.

It’s a bad script. It’s dystopia. It is, unfortunately, our new reality.
